SNAME Italia - Environmental regulations 2020 and beyond

  Dear Members and Friends, Wednesday, 29th May 2019 – at 04.00 p.m. Hosted at Conference Room first floor of Villa Giustiniani Cambiaso (Università degli Studi di Genova, Scuola Politecnica, Dipartimento DITEN, Polo Navale), Via Montallegro 1, 16145 Genova, Italia
We will hold our 3rd General Assembly for the Elections of Statutory Bodies for the years 2019/2021 and in that occasion we will hold as well a Technical-Scientific Meeting on the following topic:

 “Environmental regulations 2020 and beyond”

Speaker: Mr. Stamatis Fradelos, ABS-American Bureau of Shipping Director, Busines Development
Shipping – which transports around 90 per cent of global trade – provides the principal mode of transport for the supply of raw materials, consumer goods, essential foodstuffs and energy to the global population. Although there is an impressive track record of continued environmental awareness, concern, action, response and overall success by the maritime community for the protection of the marine environment, there is no doubt that the shipping industry, still have more to do to mitigate risks to the environment, human health, property and resources.

The current environmental regulatory regime and future regulatory developments for 2020 and beyond will be discussed, including:
• IMO, USCG/EPA and California ballast water management
• IMO and EU regulations on ship recycling
• Air Emissions
• Nitrogen ?xides (NOx)
• Sulfur ?xides (SOx) and particulate matter
• GHGs Emissions:
• Mr.EEDI
• IMO Initial Strategy
